In short
- Paceline builds and adjusts a running plan for you. It's guidance, not medical advice: check with a doctor before you start, and stop if something hurts.
- Your plan is free. Paceline Pro is an optional subscription, billed and cancelled through Google Play.
- Your data stays yours. You can delete your account and its data at any time, in the app.
- How we handle your data is in our separate Privacy Policy.
About these terms
These terms apply when you use the Paceline app and the pacelinerun.com website (together, "Paceline"). By creating an account or using Paceline, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Paceline.
Paceline asks about your running and your goal, then builds a training plan on our server and adjusts it as you train: for example after missed workouts, a race-date change or a "not feeling 100%" break. A coach guides you through setup and can suggest starting settings from your recent runs, if you share them. You can connect optional services such as Health Connect and Garmin Connect.
Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect and why. It is part of these terms. By creating an account or continuing to use Paceline, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy.
Your account
You need an account to get your plan, because the plan is built on our server. You can sign up with an email address and password or with Google Sign-In.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Paceline.
- Give accurate information. Your plan is only as good as what you tell us.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You're responsible for what happens in your account.
- One account per person; don't share it or use someone else's.
Health and safety: not medical advice
Running is physical exercise and carries a risk of injury or, rarely, serious harm. Paceline is a training tool. It is not a medical device, and nothing in it is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
- Talk to a doctor before you start a new training plan, especially if you are new to running, returning from injury or illness, pregnant, or have a heart, lung, joint or other health condition.
- Listen to your body. Stop and get medical help if you feel chest pain, faintness, severe shortness of breath or sharp pain. Skip or ease a workout whenever it doesn't feel right; the plan will adapt.
- Run safely. Watch for traffic, terrain, heat and weather. You decide where, when and how hard you run.
- Estimates are estimates. Paces, finish-time estimates, suggested settings, weather forecasts and plan adjustments are approximate and can be wrong. They are not a promise of any result.
Some parts of Paceline use AI. For example, the AI-tailored plan option asks an AI model for planning numbers, which our server then checks and turns into your plan. AI output can be wrong or unsuitable for you. Use your own judgment.
The free plan and Paceline Pro
Free
Your training plan is free: every week and workout in it, and the app's adjustments to it. That is how Paceline works today. If we ever change what is free, the change applies only to new features or to the future, and we'll tell you first as set out in "Changes to these terms" below.
Paceline Pro
Paceline Pro is an optional subscription that adds the features marked Pro in the app. Its price and billing period are shown on the purchase screen before you pay.
- Billing is through Google Play. Google Play takes the payment under its own terms; we never see your card details.
- It renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
- Cancel any time in the Play Store (Payments & subscriptions). You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting your Paceline account does not cancel the subscription; cancel it in the Play Store too.
- Refunds follow Google Play's refund policies, because Google Play is the seller of the subscription. Any legal rights you have as a consumer, such as a statutory withdrawal right, are not affected.
- Price changes apply from your next billing period, and Google Play tells you about them in advance.
- We may give Pro for free for a set time, for example to beta testers. That access ends on the stated date and never turns into a paid subscription by itself.
Third-party services
Paceline works with services run by other companies. Some are optional and only used if you turn them on:
- Google: Sign-In, Play Billing, Health Connect and push notifications.
- Garmin Connect, if you connect it: we send your planned workouts to your Garmin account and receive activities you sync. Workouts already sent stay in Garmin Connect after you disconnect.
- Anthropic, for the AI-tailored plan option.
- Supabase, which hosts our servers and database.
- Open-Meteo, for race-day weather; Cloudflare, for sign-in protection; Sentry, for crash reports.
Your use of a third-party service is also covered by that service's own terms and privacy policy. We don't control those services and aren't responsible for them, and they may change or stop working with Paceline.
Third-party disclaimer. On behalf of each third-party service provider that Paceline works with, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Those providers are not liable to you for any consequential, special, punitive or indirect damages arising from your use of Paceline. We, not they, provide all support for Paceline.
Acceptable use
Use Paceline for your own training. Please don't:
- break the law, or use Paceline to harm or harass anyone;
- try to get into other people's accounts or data, or get around sign-in protection or the Pro paywall;
- overload, disrupt or probe our servers, or scrape or bulk-download Paceline content;
- copy, resell or rebrand Paceline or its plans as your own product or service;
- reverse engineer the app, except where the law lets you;
- use automated means to generate plans or misuse the AI features.
Your data and our content
Your data is yours. You keep all rights in the information you put into Paceline and the runs you share with it. You let us use it only to run Paceline for you, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Paceline is ours. The app, website, design, name, logo, workout library and plan-building methods belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app and the plans it builds for your own training. You may share your plan or a screenshot of it with friends.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
Ending your account
You can leave at any time. Open the app and go to Profile → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and its data straight away. The steps, and what is and isn't removed, are on pacelinerun.com/delete-account. Remember to cancel any Pro subscription in the Play Store.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other runners or our service at risk. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you why first and give you a chance to fix it.
We may change or stop features, or Paceline as a whole. If we shut Paceline down, we'll tell you at least 30 days ahead, in the app and by email, and stop charging for Pro. Where Google Play allows it, we'll refund any paid Pro time you haven't used, pro rata. Until the shutdown date you can still delete your account and data.
Disclaimers and limits of liability
We work hard to make Paceline accurate and reliable, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we don't promise that it will be error-free, always available, or right for your goals, health or fitness.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for injury that results from your training choices. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of USD 50 or what you paid us for Pro in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, and nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and the courts of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel, have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes about them. If you live in the EU or UK, you can also bring a claim in your own country's courts, and its mandatory consumer laws still apply to you.
If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Paceline changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for changes that matter to you we'll tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Changes that the law requires, or that only fix wording, can take effect straight away. If you keep using Paceline after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
